During the opening, in the Blue Room gallery at the Newport Art Museum, the
film documentary of Island Moving Co's Open for Dancing will be on view. Filmmakers
Joya Granbery Hoyt, Dan Powell and Dennis Demessianos have distilled over
fifty hours of footage about the creation of the art works and dances that
were made in three sites in Newport during the summer and September of 2002.
Interviews with artists and participants, rehearsals, brainstormings and footage
of the events of the Open for Dancing festival make up the 75 minute Open
for Dancing...The Making Of. A number of copies of the documentary will be
for sale at the opening for $25 and can be ordered in advance by calling 847-4470.
